God of hosts

EXPLANATION

The expression, which occurs in celebration of the Eucharist, is refers to God’s power. It is found in the Old Testament. “Hosts” translates a Hebrew word, meaning “army” or warfare”, and refers to the “hosts of angels”. It is also translated as “God of power” or “God  of  might”.
