Mass is the traditional name in the Catholic church given to the celebration of the Eucharist. It is still commonly used by Catholics, even though in official church documents the celebration is referred to as “the Eucharist”. The ritual commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus, and is the central ritual in the Catholic tradition.
