EXPLANATION
Sacrifice comes from two Latin words meaning “to make holy”. In the bible sacrifice usually refers to something that is set aside for God. In the Old Testament, what was sacrificed (either an animal or part of a crop) was either burnt or eaten by those taking part in the ritual. In the New Testament, it is used as a way of explaining the death of Jesus.
